EYNA Microbursaries

EYNA are pleased to announce the recipients of our member microbursaries.

Carmel Balfe of Little Gem Puppets, a visual storyteller with experience creating work for young audiences, is developing a new piece of puppetry based on the concept of a hedgehog needing a home, partially in response to storm Eowyn and the questions it drew as to the stability of our environment.

Joe Brennan, a storyteller and theatremaker, will be working to develop a small, contained theatre piece called 'The Flying Garden' which is a meditation on and celebration of everything that flies in the garden from the bees and butterflies to our dreams.

Brona Jackson, a dancer and choreographer, will be working on Orbits, a new dance show and lighting installation combining sensory lights and movement for early years audiences and their grownups.

Killian Kirwan, an experienced playwright, is developing a piece that prioritises environmental discovery above narrative arc and that places the young audience in a position where they feel they are in control. It uses a kind of Minecraft-inspired sandbox format to transform a space and allow young audiences to experience a narrative via environmental discovery.

As well as €150, the recipients will benefit from mentoring sessions from EYNA co-founders Cliodhna Noonan and Heather Rose.

Rose Producing is a producer-led company making work for young people.

We believe in putting people first.
